I sympathize with TC as far as FR/LG were barebones. But the Sevii Islands were a nice and rather unexpected addition to where one could explore.
Now I don't think it wold have killed them to not make it so apparent that they just used R/S/E's engine and half assed a Kanto game. The victory theme's were all copied, and even in PvP, they used R/S/E's Gym Leader theme.
All trainers in that game have one of 3 themes, Boy, Girl, and Team Rocket iirc
Giving players the same TMs they received in R/S/E wasn't what I would call inspired either (Rock Tomb, Water Pulse, Shock Wave)
most of my complaints with the game to me feel like a lack of true "trying to go above and beyond" attitude when making the game or creating concepts for it. Just a little more effort sprinkled here and there, and at least trying to cover up any apparent R/S/E tracks would have been nice.
Otherwise it isn't bad, but I'll stick to R/B/Y

The only thing that really bothered me about FRLG was how hell bent they were on making sure we didn't get any Non-Gen 1 Pokemon until post game to the point where they game forcibly stops Pokemon like Golbat and Chansey from evolving and that we couldn't do any Pokemon breeding until after defeating the elite 4
