If Daenerys Targaryen was in the Pokemon world, what dragon type would she use?

I just stopped watching a few episodes in when I realized it was basically softcore porn with a fantasy story attached to it.

You are a viewer-only. Away with you.

Oh relax, I'm joking. I stopped watching because after quite a few episodes I just realized that I didn't care. I wasn't enjoying watching it, I didn't care about any of the characters, and I had no interest in the story.

Since finishing the series so far, I've taken to naming all of my Pokemon for beings in the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, based on looks and the way I perceive their personalities.

You mean all your Pokémon are awful, miserable and depressing people?

No, I mean I name them all after what/who they look/might possibly act like from the ASoIaF universe.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion, sir.

It was just a joke :)

I personally don't really like the Song of Ice and Fire books, I know GRR Martin's trying to avoid obvious fantasy tropes and clichés but for me he goes too far. I get fed up of all the miserable bad guys winning, sometimes it's nice when a character you root for doesn't have his head hacked off and replaced by a wolf's.

That seems to be the problem a lot of people have with the series. Honestly, I revel in the thought that my favorite character might be slain at any moment. The unkillable hero trope is just too unrealistic in a series as big as this one.

In any case, the high points outweigh the lows, IMO. Did you read past ASoS?

I've read 'em all, and admittedly they do get better. I completely know what you mean about characters feeling mortal, and I commend Martin for going down that route. Like I say though I think he takes it too far, to the point that for large chunks of several of the books most of the characters are truly hateful.

It's not so much that main characters can die, I have no problem with that. Obvious plot armour is lame. It's more the fact that it's difficult to enjoy a series of books when I can't stand almost all of the characters.

The other main criticism (with which I also tend to agree) is that there doesn't seem to be any real progression of an overarching plot. There's all these different side plots... but nothing really tying them together. I'll be interested to see if Martin can drag them back together in any way that even approaches coherence. I think it's pretty telling that since finishing the most recent book I've pretty much entirely forgotten the story of it.

They have got better though - I do like Victarion, Tyrion, Jon, Belwas, Reek and Jamie, so things are looking up I guess.

Also, what Pokemon would Ygritte use if she were in the Pokemon world?

Most likely Ice types. Probably a Snover, Froslass, Cubchoo, maybe an Ursaring, a Mightyena and a Typholosion(for the kissed by fire thing)

In the entirety of season 3 so far there hasn't been one instance of a main character getting naked (unfortunately)

"I could care less" means you care right now.
The proper phrase is "I couldn't care less."
