Not that I have a problem with the old 8-bit cries of the Pokemon, but it would sound a bit off coming from a fully 3D game model.

Only the first two gens need to changed, and maybe Gen 3.

Gens 4 and 5 almost sound like real animals.

Some gen 1-2 cries are ok like tyranitar, charizard

But they do have some ridiculous sounding 1-bit digital cries, like mewtwo and electabuzz

Maybe I'm grasping at straws, but I truly believe that the random Pikachu encounter seen in the first trailer was edited to hide its cry because they updated them and didn't want us to know yet. I agree with you that the older cries would sound jarring coming from the 3D models, TC.

Hell no. I mean hell no to saying their name.

It would feel dumb. It feels more animalistic/realistic for Pokemon to make noises.

1. Because of different languages
2. Because we don't call dogs a Bark/Woof/Arf (unless we give them it as a personal name)

Update the sounds, but I hope they don't say their given species name.

If pokemon start saying their names in the games i would probably quit the games even if there's an option to turn off cries because then, having no sound would be boring

but if they did try to coincide with the names/cries as heard in the anime... i might just always use some pokemon just because of how they sound.

ghastly/haunter.. and electabuzz.and maybe kingler XD

If there was ever a time to ditch all the old gen 1-3 cries, now would be the time. 4 and 5 are fine with most of them sounding like real animals.
