Because the type charts are fine as is. Why fix what isn't broken? (Looking at you, BLS.)

Not sure if serious.
If you're not joking, you obviously don't play competitively.

Competitive play is for scrubs.

It isn't the idea of new types. It's the stupid new types and the stupid ideas people use for them. For instance, if we got the Sound type (that one seems the most plausible to me) there are 18 moves that are classified as "Sound" moves (5 of those are already a type other than normal btw). There are maybe 15 Pokemon that make sense to be retconned into either pure Sound type or a dual Sound type. Why go through the trouble of balancing a type that will directly affect so few Pokemon?

Then there's the retconning of Arceus's type plates. Are we just going to assume that there was a "Tuning Plate" that just hasn't shown up among the other 3 or 4 times we've gotten a complete (at the time) set of plates?

18 moves is a pretty decent number, if you look at other types, and I wouldn't expect there to be that many pokemon to retcon.
Steel only retconned 1, and dark didn't retcon any.

In regards to Arceus, they retcon things like this all the time. They could easily do that.

New types are unnecessary and it's very easy to get them wrong.

Also, most people asking for new types seem to want them for flavor purposes alone and don't give a **** about balancing the type chart, and most of the "new types" suck. Fairy-type? Light-type? Really?

How dare we want something for "flavor purposes"

This statement makes no sense. How is it "easy" to make them wrong?
How often has it happened in the past?
Are you suggesting that steel and dark types were "wrong"? I'm pretty sure they're fairly popular.

Dark, probably not. Steel, yes.
Steel wasn't a problem in the past because, at the time, Steel Pokémon and moves were very scarce in number to make a huge impact. But look at the metagame now: Steel Pokémon are EVERYWHERE! They make a powerful combo with Dragon Pokémon because of how well they cover each other's weaknesses.
Also, was it really necessary to make Ice weak against Steel, when it was already weak against three of the most common offensive types in the game?
