So Fairy type would be the "light" type that everyone wants?

Dark being strong against Ghost and Psychic could be explained that Ghosts could be potentially unconscious apperations desiring purpose and feeling, however Dark types' tendency to act underhanded may wreck the Ghosts' way of life, in Psychic's case it might just be a case of Mind Impurity that might make their predictions useless.

Bug and Fighting types being strong against Dark could be explained that Bugs are simpleminded creatures with things that naturally be dangerous, they lack the intelligence to be tricked (their very same reason can be used against Psychic types) and Fighting types are professionals at what they do; it would essentially be comparing a 7 foot Boxing Guy to a thug with a Knife.

Those are actually really dumb explanations.

Also note that "Fairy" has far more potential than "Light." A fairy can essentially be any kind of spirit, good, bad, spectre, whatever. They can be themed around light, darkness, plants, air, whatever.

A "Fairy" type is thus more interesting than a "Light" type.

And this diversity is the very reason Fairy makes absolutely no sense as a Type. They do not share any characteristic in common.

It's a problem with Pokemon in general. Especially the Normal type, so many of them are diverse and share no real commonality. Same with Fire type, some are actual fire or lava creatures, others can just breathe fire.

But with fire types, they all have fire in common in some way or another. Normal is supposed to be the way it is. It is, by definition, the "non-characteristic" type. What trait do Fairies have? They are all...what? Magical? Then why not call it the "Magic" type? Usually things like fire, water, earth, etc... are "magic" in fantasy stories, so....??

Again, it's Pokemon. The elemental types are already far too broad as it is.

Clefairy, Deoxys. Both would make great fairy types. Perhaps going to outer space could be pokémon's next frontier.

Dark = Evil (Hence most of the dark type moves being shady bad stuff like Thief, Beat Up, Foul Play, Fake Tears, Nasty Plot, Punishment, Payback, Sucker Punch, etc. etc.)

Fight = Hero (Fighting Evil/Crime)

Fighting is pretty much the Light type, people here in the states can't seem to grasp this and want light/holy crap vs. dark, this ain't Final Fantasy.

.....That literally has nothing to do with a Pokemon's type.

Fighting aren't "Light" type because Dark aren't actually "Dark" as most people see "Dark" to be. They're "Dark" as in "Evil." Fighting are "Light" as in "Honorable." They're not named "Light" because "Dark" doesn't mean THAT kind of dark.

Fighting isn't light though it's just fighting. Fairy though is better to say then light. Fairy has the potential to be made better then fairy.
