Poison seriously needs a buff considering how weak it unfortunately is. In a hypothetical scenario, what if they made it even weaker rather than stronger?

Perhaps Poison type would then become the type for veterans or elitists who want to challenge themselves with increased difficulty.

If it is indeed Fairy type, I can see it being weakened to poison actually....

That's my sincere hope and what I'm expecting. Poison should be super effective against Water as well.

I do not think it would affect me in the slightest. If your hypothetical scenario happens to be true it would not effect the gameplay as, I doubt Gamefreak would introduce a lot of Pokemon with a fairy typing. The amount introduced would be similar to Dark types in Gold and, Silver. Unless Poison types gain an advantage over Water they will remain as one of the least useful of types.

First we need to have new types announced, then we'll see about how they work. I wouldn't rise my hopes high, but if you like being disappointed, be my guest.

That's IF there really is a new class though. As for Water being weakened to Poison, it would make some sense...due to pH and all that

Poison being SE against Water makes just as much sense as it not being SE against water.

Most cures for poison require water as an ingrediant.

Water diludes poisons.

and more.

All they need to do is buff Grass types (make them far more useful) along with Bug, and Ice and it should be fine.

Grass would become an obvious counterbalance to Water types (which although it counters, it's not the most efficient type, but considering Rock and ground are common attacking types, and Water types being very dominant typings within the meta, it could lead to some nasty (for water) changes in the metagame.

I can't understand how if Poison includes different acids and corrosives, why is it not effective against Steel? Neutral damage at least would make sense to me.
