If existing pokemon are re-typed to Fairy, would it cause some competitive

battlers to stick with Gen 5? Kinda like how, when Brawl came out, a lot of competitive Smash players stuck to Melee? Would the changes have to be severe?

Nah. Each generation there's integration, but it's still the same basic formula.

Changing the formula though, well that's another question.

Didn't they quite literally change the formulas after gen one?

It would suck if Blissey were re-typed to Fairy and it turns out Fairy type resists Fighting moves.

But would competitive battlers denounce Gen 6 on the sole basis of Blissey?

Probably not. It seems like nothing will shake up the metagame the same way Stealth Rock did.

No.

And if they would drop the game over something so silly, they aren't worth playing with anyway.

Are you comparing the difference between Melee and Brawl [two completely different games for that matter, with only the core mechanics alike] to adding ONE minuscule insignificant type to a Pokemomomon game?

People still play all five generations' metagames, you know. Competitive players will stay in Gen V for a while anyway because you know that for Gen VI's first few months (November-March approximately), simulators won't have the Gen VI Pokémon. I'm sure they normally use the Japanese games to develop the simulators, whether because they are based in Japan or just because they came out earlier, but that won't work now.

Gen IV and even Gen III I can understand, but Gen II and Gen I? Really? Like with game link cables?
