If they actually DID make the Sound type...

...wouldn't they call it the Sonic type?

I mean...doesn't that just make more grammatical sense? Rolls off the tongue easier?

Like, I dunno, Screech would be a sonic attack, not a sound attack? Doesn't it just seem better to say you're being subjected to a sonic attack than a sound attack? Sonic just implies more strength that just plain sound. If you imagine Yveltal being sound type you think, what he's gonna play music at me? If he's sonic type, however, you would think he's going to hurt you with powerful sonic blasts.

Granted I think this type being invented has a snowball's chance in hell, but I heard someone make this argument and it just resonates (haha) with me. If it were real, sonic just sounds better than, well, sound type. And yet, everyone keeps saying "sound type" which just sounds so awkward to me now.

Sega might have issues with that.

Well, remember, not all sound-based move actually do damage. The only ones that do I think are Uproar, Chatter, and Hyper Voice (correct me if I'm wrong.)

Sing, Grasswhistle, Heal Bell, Roar, etc are sound-based moves that don't do damage. Calling it a Sound-type would cover those moves as well.

Sonic is still "of or pertaining to sound" so even if they're not damaging, they are sonic in nature.

Also, Sega doesn't own the word sonic. Just Sonic the Hedgehog. What, do you think they get royalties every time a jet "goes supersonic"? lol

They could just have an attack called Sonic Blast

Sound type having one attack called sonic blast would be like if the Psychic type was actually called Mental type and had an attack called Psychic. =/

Psychic just describes what it IS better. Same thing with sonic if you ask me; sound can be music or talking or the breeze or anything, whereas sonic sounds more specifically combat-based.

After all, there are sonic weapons out there, even if they are non-lethal. Some ships carry powerful directional speakers to aim at pirates so that if they approach the ship, the sound is so loud they have to retreat. You would call such a device a "sonic weapon" before you'd call it a "sound weapon."
