It feels like no one threw a hissy fit over the loss of the slot machines.

I didn't like it. I don't like censorship in general. It's a casino, put slot machines for cripes sake, if anything just for the atmosphere.

No Safari Zone irked me more than no Game Corner...

What exactly is appealing about the Safari Zone?

There's nothing fun about throwing stuff at Pokemon, hoping they don't run away, and it's even worse when you encounter a shiny there.

I've never encountered a shiny there myself, but I've heard stories of people who have, and I can understand their frustration.

I think the appeal is having rare Pokemon that you couldn't catch anywhere else, like catching those Dratinis. Now safari zones are pointless, but back in the day, they were something special.

The slots were actually really easy in FRLG since the 7's stood out on the reel. I never understood why people bought the coins in that one.

I've actually gotten several 777's in a row before on leafgreen. I'm not good enough at always timing the first two reels but I can almost always get the last.

I hear ya. I loved the slot machines in RB and FRLG. I won on them all the time though and had no problem getting what I wanted to use the coins for. I can understand why people hate them, but I still miss them.

Safari Zones make rare pokemon even rarer. Back when I was but a wee lad, noone ran Tauros because they couldn't be bothered encountering him, let alone catching him before he ran. When I got lucky and actually caught Tauros, it made my team so much stronger.

The kanto safari zone was my favorite, because it had such stupidly powerful pokemon like Tauros, Chansey, Dratini, and they were all rare, complemented by the fact that the safari zone makes it hard to catch Pokemon. You get a unique, strong team that you deserve when you get a good Pokemon in the safari zone.

I didn't care that we lost slot machines, because there are literally thousands of other ways one can play slot machines out there. It's not like Pokemon slot machines had anything that made them special.

What DID make me angry though was they eliminated the option to simply buy casino coins.

I do not have the patience to play Voltorb Flip enough times to get the coins for the Ice Beam TM. It's ridiculous.

Voltorb Flip was awesome. Not its fault if you couldn't figure out how to play.

Most of the whining I saw was the inability to buy coins directly.

Anyway, the EU is rating games more harshly that have gambling in them, so a worldwide release means that slot machines more than likely are not back.

you're kidding, right?
Voltorb flip was the WORST pokemon gimmick ever.

Voltorb Flip was an actual puzzle game that required more than simple luck

...

You know what I hated? Losing the CASINO. I couldn't care less about the slot machines (also their spanish name was just weird [Tragaperras = Whoreswallower lol] ...but, in the spanish/spain translation everything had weird names)

Let us play Blackjack or something, Game Freak! Or...I dunno, something that requires actual SKILLZ!!

I loved Voltorb Flip but it was way too time consuming to buy even one TM. Same with the D/P/Pt slots which were insanely easy but boring and time consuming too. At least Voltorb Flip was fun, but between that and the Pokethalon, I hardly had time for the actual game >_>.
