How would you like this Stealth Rock change?

Instead of the foe losing 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, or 1/2 of their maximum HP, rounded down, based on their weakness to the Rock-type;

It loses 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, or 1/2 of their current HP, rounded down, based on their weakness to the Rock-type;

I want it to not change at all. Stealth Rock is beautiful just the way it is.

No, because first damage with, let's say, Charizard, would take 50% damage. After another switch in, it takes 25% damage. I don't think it's as broken as one might think at first without realizing it.

Why not just give it base damage?

It would still not really help out the types weak to Rock since they still run the risk of losing 25-50% of their HP when they first switch into it.

No matter what your HP is, you don't want to lose a fourth or half of it just from switching in.

This is why I think it's better to either get rid of it or just really reduce its damage (so that even those 4x weak to Rock would only lose 25%).

Or perhaps just forget logic and say it's now a move that doesn't apply weakness and resistance, like Psywave. It just hits everything for flat damage, period.

Or perhaps make it like Spikes where to get the current effect, you need to lay down 3 layers of it. So at least the Fire-weak types won't be getting hit as bad unless they use 3 turns to set it up.

See, I think the best thing they could do to SR is squish the range, so if you're rock-neutral it's 12.5%, if you're rock-weak it's 25%, and if you're rock-resistant it's 6.25%.
