Assuming we can migrate Pokemon, how will Game Freak handle it?

So we all know that from Gen 3 to Gen 4, migration was used through the DS Lite's GBA slot. Which was fine, until the DS Lite was replaced, taking away this feature entirely for people who started with the DSi.

From Gen 4 to Gen 5, we had PokeTransfer, which was used with DS Download Play. I do not know if any 3DS games have shown the ability to connect with DS games in this way, but it would still require a second system. For people who may have started with a 3DS and Black or White 2, and never had or got rid rid of their regular DS, this would still be out of the question.

I'm also a bit worried that if they are able to use Download Play for migration, it may only work with Black and White 2 and not the originals. Which wouldn't be a problem for most people, but I'm sure a few would be outraged.

So I thought of this idea. Since the 3DS is fully capable of playing any DS game, including both Gens 4 and 5, why not have some kind of 3DS app that can serve as a Pokemon storage? My idea would be to allow the app to take Pokemon from PC boxes on the DS game card in the system, and send them to storage on the SD card. Then later on, the Pokemon can be transferred from the system onto the 3DS game cart, or in the game's storage area on the SD card if bought digitally, and be migrated to X and Y this way.

The possible flaws I see with this system are the ability to create fakes by adding them to the SD card in this way, but since the 3DS seems to have pretty good protection against this sort of thing, it may not be possible at the moment. The app could also potentially have a trade system, so that you could "donate" Pokemon you don't want to someone else before they even get migrated. I'm not sure how this could work, but it could be as simple as a password for migration that you could give to someone else, allowing them to download a Pokemon from your storage.

Thoughts on this idea? Any important flaws I left out? And what would be the likelihood of something like this happening for X and Y?

The app is what I'm expecting. I've actually seen someone try to argue against fourth-gen compatibility, but I'm for it if it's not too much of a hassle on GameFreak's part.

Bonus points if the app serves as a Pokémon Box as well as allowing transfers to the sixth gen!

The pokemon x and y game cart will have a silicon edge connector on top to connect gen 4 and 5 DS games on top, very much like sonic & knuckles .

Eh, transferring directly from 4th Gen isn't all that important, but if the app can connect with Gen 5, then why not Gen 4 as well? It would save a little bit of hassle for some people, if they are trying to train something and won't miss something important in Gen 5.

I'd also like to see it work as a Pokemon Box, seeing as we'll have over 700 Pokemon. Just to have one of each kind would take at least 24 boxes, assuming we still can hold 30 per box. I'd pay $5 or $10 for extra storage and a transfer system in a heartbeat.

An app is quicker and generates more money.

Dream Radar and BW2 demonstrate it is possible to communicate with 3DS games and DS games. I wouldn't take anything off the table.

From a technical standpoint, transferring IV to VI is about as easy as V to VI. Considering they still sell BW2, I wouldn't expect it.

Yes. I've seen tons of outrage over talks of paid DLC for Pokemon. This wouldn't technically be DLC, but it would at least be a good purchase, as opposed to packs of 3 Pokemon for $2.

I'm for a paid app that would allow us to do this, however I do hope the paid DLC will not be event exclusive Pokemon like "buy the new rare XX Pokemon for 3 bucks!" kind of thing. But this app will work and seems to be likely.

What if some people only have like 2 pokemon they want to transfer and have to pay a price just for it. Outrage
