If you look at the screenshots of the move screens of Chespin/Fennekin/Froakie, you can see an icon at the bottom with a ribbon on it.

This is true. But it either means there are contests in this game, or that you can trade from earlier gens to this one.

Pretty sure that option was only available to Gen IV Pokémon or events. The starters you get at the start probably won't have a ribbon screen unless there's somewhere to get new ribbons.
