I go loosely by the way the Japanese pronounce it: kah-loss.
The Japanese don't even have a soft O sound though, it would be a soft A instead. Kalos pronounced in Japanese root is Kah-lows (but you wouldn't accentuate either the H in "Kah" or the W in "lows".
