This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

I look forward to this, because new pokemon games are better.

I just replayed Pokemon Crystal for a nostalgia trip. The game is still solid, but it's lost a lot.

Number one being that I'm not going to get any friends to battle with me using such an old cartridge and since I don't have the option to play online all of the post-game content seems kind of pointless.

Additionally I was shocked at the utter lack of variety. If I were playing Pokemon Pearl each area would have had something different in the grass, but in Crystal I was running into Raticades all the way in Kanto.

Finally every single pokemon's movepool sucks compared to now. I was all excited because when I was a kid and played Crystal, I never caught a Heracross. I made it a point to get one today only to find out that the only fighting moves he could learn (that could be super effective) were Reversal and Rocksmash.

Ghost type moves were also all physical, so you could grab yourself a Haunter and not even be able to take advantage of the high special stat. Entei sucks because he's all attack, and all fire attacks are based on special.

I'm happy to report that Nintendo has only made Pokemon better with each installment. And thank goodness for the coming of X.

Agreed. The memories associated with playing the older games is great, but the games themselves are far worse than the current games.

Gamefaqs in its entirety is an unintelligent site.

Agreed, I consider each main game better than the last. More pokemon, moves, held items, events, etc. It just gets better and better over time. It's tough for me to go back more than 1-2 generations when replaying a pokemon game. It just feels like there's so much missing.

Ignorance is bliss. These games were great for it's time mostly due to the fact that we didn't know how much more the system could be improved. I respect what these games did for the series however. I really enjoyed Black 2 and I'm currently awaiting Heart Gold to come in the mail.

Currently playing: Bioshock Infinite, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Super Mario 3D Land.

Of course newer games are better. Not all newer games, but most of them are better. Newer games means the developers keep the best parts of the game or improve on them, and add even newer things that make the game even greater (most of the time). This is commons sense.

Wait I got it! Super Mario 3D Land will be in California and Super Mario 3D World will be in Florida. Zing! ~AloofGuyXXVII

And yet we still get releases like DmC.

Glad to see someone who's not blinded by nostalgia.

The only ones who are(on here, at least) are trolls getting off on other people's butthurt and rage.

While I agree with most of what you mentioned, I feel like the game design in black and white took a toll for the worse.

Not changing this sig until we get a new main series Tales game released on a Nintendo console in the US

I actually haven't played Black and White.

One thing I'd love to see is Nintendo getting rid of IVs.

EVs and Nature are enough of a grind as it is. IVs really hurt playing the game competitively.
