How do Escape Ropes work, exactly?

Somehow, a rope takes you from a deep, dark dungeon to the outside? How the f*** does that happen? Is it a rope made of magical warping powers?

How does Future Sight work? A Pokemon uses the attack, and nothing happens. After while, a glowing orb of energy appears and strikes the opposing Pokemon. It must be magic.

Pokemon themselves are magical beings. Am I to assume that inanimate objects in the Pokeworld are, too?

Seriously, this is Pokemon. Don't even try to think about how things "make sense." Just don't.

Basically when you carry an escape rope, your character ties it to something at the front of the cave. When you "use" it, it's just your character following the rope back.

Yeah that's all I got.

its simple: you choose the escape rope, click use, then you turn around quickly, everything goes black, and you find yourself turning outside the cave. whats the big deal? i do that every day

It's magic. It works by tying it into a noose and hanging yourself with it. This releases the magic inside of the rope, which teleports you out.

...yes, actually. What makes a Super Rod 'Super'? Why do Pokemon obey you based on the number of pieces of metal in your badge case? How does a Charcoal amplify a Fire type's attacks? What about a Sharp Beak increasing the power of an attack that involves no beak like Whirlwind? A pair of sunglasses? How come the only healing items Pokemon don't like are the bitter ones? You're saying every Pokemon likes milk? How does a smell alter certain Pokemons' offspring? Why is a specific disc of junk code the only thing that evolves Porygon2? How do Leppa Berries heal PP? How are Power Points measured, anyway? What is inherently special about the Soul Dew, Adamant Orb, or the like? Why does Groudon respond favorably to a present Blue Orb? What is a Lava Cookie, anyway?

The Mana games have Escape Ropes, too, and they were around first.

Your examples have everything to do with Pokemon. As I've said, Pokemon are magical. An Escape Rope is just an object the human uses.
