1, Money.
2. The games are cut off because the 3DS doesn't have a GBA slot.
3. We didn't need the Gen 2 games at all because we could already get all of the Pokemon from existing games.
4. Time events like growing berries won't happen because dead batteries.

Do you know what batteries they're referring to? Internal batteries?

They'll save. Any time-related functionality no longer works because the internal battery is dry.
