A download version makes sense due to the extended post story play, but I'll have to go retail until Nintendo has better policies. --- Awaiting: AC4, LR:FFXIII, FFXIV:ARR, FFXV, BD:FF, Pokemon X, DA:I, Zelda: ALBW

Retail. The only reason I could see getting a digital copy is if I want to have more than one save file, but we're not really even sure if that will work. Plus, I buy both versions, with one of the reasons being that I can have two "save files," anyway.
More than likely, as this is a portable game where the saves are on the cartridge, not the system, so with one save on the cart and the other on the system, you'll be fine. Unless, you just buy both X/Y at retail. --- Amazing Pikmin 3 CYOA http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633263-pikmin-3/65324351

Definitely going with a retail copy of X first. If I love it so much that I need a copy of Y too, I might be up for downloading that one. --- Official Manectric of the Pokemon X/Y Boards

If there's a chance to get a physical copy, I always get a physical copy. I'm just the kid of guy who likes to save up space just for the download exclusive games. And since his isn't a download exclusive, well, you know which way I'm going. --- Don't hesitate. When the time comes, just act.
