Ok here is an interesting idea. What if Nuzleaf and Shifty become Dark/Fairy?

Here is my reasoning. Shifty is based off of japanese folklore, a Tengu, which is a kind of demon. Due to a tengu's mystical nature, it seems to fit a fairy.

however going fairy would mean losing grass type, which may not sit well with some people. Still Dark/Fairy is a badass type combo, and right now Shifty doesn't ever get any attention. Last if it does lose it Grass type, there is always Cacturne. Perhaps this gen is a good time for it to evolve?

What do you think? Should it become a fairy

No, it should clearly stay Grass, and Dark makes more sense than Fairy.

1. Shiftry is, was, and presumably always will be spelled with an R.
2. Its name is shifty (meaning suspicious) + tree. It needs the Dark type AND the Grass type.

Certain pokemon, such as Shiftry and Froslass, need to keep both of their current types, despite otherwise being a good candidate for Fairy. This isn't true of every dual type, Normal and Psychic are easier to replace, but those two shouldn't change at least.

agree, there are some pokemon that are dual type that that can have another type substituted and it doesnt change what they are, while others are so full of both types, that a change would harm there essence.

Shiftry's name comes from shifty+tree. Although, shifty is a somewhat rare adjective.

Yes, yes. Shiftry has gigantic leaves for hands but lets drop its Grass type.
