Voltorb - the pokéboll
Electrode - the pokéboll upside-down
Dugtrio - three Digletts
Magneton - three Magnemites

Pokemon are Japanese. Japan has a long history of believing that inanimate objects can have a spirit or life infused into them, by being made by someone, by existing for a long age, etc. "Object Pokemon" are very valid and should be expected.
