Since Dark is most likely weak to Fairy...

Wouldn't it make sense for Xerneas to be Fairy/Grass? You know, so that it totally doesn't have a type advantage over Yveltal?

Well, besides Dragon being SE on Dragon, neither Gen IV or V had any effectiveness correlation on their primary types (Water vs. Steel, Fire vs. Electric)

I'm glad it's a monotype, actually; there are way too many dual-typed legendaries.

I think they could make Dark effective against Fairy as well.

I really wish it was Fairy / Rock.
Because "lol 4x steel weakness".

Kyogre (Water) had a type advantage over Groudon(Ground) back in Gen 3.

Dialga (Steel/Dragon) had a type advantage over Palkia (Water/Dragon) in Gen 4.

Not everything can be perfectly balanced.

Dark > Fairy > Dragon could go that way.

Kyogre (Water) had a type advantage over Groudon(Ground) back in Gen 3.

That one actually makes sense, because there's more water on the Earth than ground.

Xerneas and Yveltal are supposed to represent life and death, if I'm not mistaken. Why would life have an advantage over death? Death overcomes all....

I wonder if dark and fairy will be the first types (besides dragon itself) that are super effective against each other. Doing so would balance:
light/dark
good/evil
life/death

Ghost also does that, but I know what you meant. Actually, Poison and Bug were super effective against eachother in Gen 1.
