Given that it has a move called Geomancy / Geo Control, and since it seems to draw its energy from the ground, I find it weird that they didn't take this opportunity to make a cool new dual-type legendary. That, and the whole Behemoth-Ziz-Leviathan Earth-Sky-Land theory that's been floating around.

Because it would make 0 sense for the "Life" pokemon to be weak against Water and Grass.

Snorlax can know thunder punch, fire punch and ice punch? Why isn't it electric/normal, fire/normal, or ice/normal?

That's exactly what your asking.

Just because it knows a move, doesn't mean it has to have that type?

Fair enough, I forgot about that. I just mentioned it because I had seen the theory tossed around a while back.

I've given up on trying to make sense of the weakness system in Pokemon.

Right, Snorlax's signature move is Thunder Punch. Geomancy is Xerneas's Sacred Fire, you know.

I think you're taking the geo part of Geomancy too literally. Think of it as geo meaning the earth as a whole, not just the ground.
