So is Yveltal supposed to be a bird or a dragon?

Not many to bring up, but are still there.

Noticeable difference between a dragon and wyvern.

Dragons have 2 pairs of legs/arms or 0. Wyverns can have only 1 or 0. Wyverns have a barbed tail.

Differences that cant be seen between a dragon and wyvern.

Wyverns can have a venomous bite (don't you dare bring up cynder).

On that note, Yveltal is probably a wyvern.

Oh, and these are scientifically observed taxonomic differences, I suppose?

That's not a difference. Dragons don't have a set number of legs. It's a very broad category of giant mythological lizards. Chinese dragons aren't considered wyverns, but they often have no legs.

All wyverns are dragons, but not all dragons are wyverns

It's a bird. Its design looks similar to a quetzal.

I just thought it was supposed to be a giant vulture or condor, perhaps Argentavis.

From Wikipedia:

A wyvern sometimes spelled wivern, is a legendary winged creature with a dragon's head, reptilian body, two legs (sometimes none), and a barbed tail, which may be said to breathe fire or possess a venomous bite

Anything with a dragon's head and reptilian body is a dragon, ergo, a wyvern is a dragon.

These are impressive logic leaps.
