It's not necessary to tell our age at the start of each generation, we can just tell our age at the start of the first one and you can do the math to determine the rest. I was almost 6 when Red and Green were released in Japan and 8 when Red and Blue were released worldwide. I started playing video games when I was 4 so it's pretty obvious that I was already playing Pokémon at 8 years old.

I was 11 at gen 1, I've missed several generations but I'm thinking about starting gen 6 mostly due to nostalgia and improved visuals, I'll be 26 when it's released.
