Why is Charmander Water/Fire type?

#1Gatorade22Posted 7/22/2013 8:22:39 PM
I thought of this because of all the discussions about Charizard being Fire/Dragon type.

I figured, "Hey, if people are willing to believe Charizard should be Dragon type then maybe they will believe Charmander should be water type".

Well... Charmander is based on a Salamander... Are Salamanders amphibians?

Had to look it up, wasn't sure.

Yes, Salamanders ARE indeed amphibians.

So, Why isn't Charmander Fire/Water typing? Or at least drop the Fire and keep the Water type.

So Charmander becomes the water type Squirtmander, and Squirtle becomes the Fire type Chartle. (think Bowser)

To be fair, Charmander is based of the mythological Salamander, which the real animal is named after. It's basically a Fire-based creature.

I think salamanders spend more time in mud then water. However Charmander is also weak to ground. Bad name maybe?

real question is why isn;t squirtle water/normal?

Its name literally is squirrel turtle, and rodents are always normal type.

Do I need to point out the flaw in your logic?
