Gen 5/Unova: Really didn't care for this gen. Some pokemon designs were great, while others just plain sucked. seasons were cool. triple and rotation battles were stupid (don't even think I HAD a rotation battle in my first playthrough.) N was awesome. Kyurem was meh. the fighting dogs of justice were cool. F the pony.

Thats my opinion, now post yours!!!

Dogs.
dude. really?

it is very clearly a stag, a doe, and a bear. I dont possibly see how you could think they are dogs.
the johto trio are one thing, but thats way to far.

I thought virizion the venison was a deer, but was pretty sure the others didn't look like deer, so i went with the safe bet. dog. everyone likes dogs.

A doe is a female deer.
a stag is a male deer ( the one with horns ) just give'em a look next time, as they definitely are meant to be those respecting creatures. These are not as heavily disputed as the Johto trio, so ou will probably get less leeway with a dog with a long neck and horns.

gen 1. nostalgia not only for pokemon, but for the first rpg that i really played and really really liked. in some ways i miss the days of gen 1, and miss the greatness many pokemon had back then. its hard to not look back at what started it all and not love it, but at the same time it was the first game, so much could be improved, but its the first game, grace must be, and is given.

gen 2, tied for my least favorite region. which is ironic cause it brought so much good to the pokemon world, new types, new evo's new concepts, that wherent just gimmicks. plus color!! the themes of the region where great, and hg/ss helped me to remember them. sadly though many of the new pokemon didnt really appeal me, and often i remember playing with pokemon from gen 1. this gen really was the second half of a whole, but a smaller portion than the first. and great as the concept of the post game was, great as a whole other region was to go through, great as it was to return to kanto and see the changes, the execution of this concept is what really truely ruins this gen for me.

gen 3, my favorite, just a little past my second fav because of the pure nostalgia that blinds me to it. i played through this gen so many times. since i really didnt know anyone else that played pokemon i wasnt that offended by the no backsies that was implemented. and with all the new pokemon this region felt very very fresh. add to that some fun new environments to traverse. it has the most pokemon in one region that i really enjoy. and while looking back the evil teams' plot was really poorly thought out it was always a fun direction after two gens of rocket. also bridges....if they make a remake, bridges would be helpful in at least one or two locations.

gen 4, is the other half of my least favorite region duo. and while i enjoy most of the new pokemon as well as the new evo's for the old pokemon. and even though the region brought a great snowy area. i just didnt enjoy playing it as much as other gens. so much so i was looking forward to hg/ss just to get out of that region. to many caves, to to many caves. but the new attack split was a great addition to pokemon.

gen 5, is my second favorite region. like gen 3 there are so many pokemon that i like. but i also liked how they gave the fresh start feeling with no old pokemon till post e4 (unless you had dream world access) which also was great cause that gave me a chance to start with something different. which made the second half of gen 5 that much better. a true sequel that lets me return to gen 5 with an altered dex is awesome. that said i do wish the way you traveled through the region was a little different the second time around.

Dude, I live in West Virginia. I KNOW the difference between a doe and a deer. didn't think it mattered in the discussion that much, since we're talking about pokemon.

Gen 1 - Easily the blandest games in the series. Pokémon designs, while good, feel a bit too boring to use. I love the games, but nothing really stands out nowadays.

Gen 2 - Awful level scaling, it doesn't even use the new Pokémon it introduces, half-baked Johto, even worse Kanto, Team Rocket is awful, etc.

But I love Gen 2. It introduced a lot of new elements into the series and is a blast to replay.

Gen 3 - My personal favorite. Godly music, exotic Pokémon, fantastic region, (Besides the usual "bawww water" complaints) abilities, contests, double battles, and trumpets.

Gen 4 - Slow, but strangely relaxing. Not much to complain about here, but I guess pre-Platinum was a bit of a drag.

Gen 5 - Great story, amazing music, and it refined a crapton of mechanics. Gen 3 beats it by a hair because pre-B/W2 Unova is a bit linear.

Gen I: I like the Pokemon and the characters. Music is good. I usually only enjoy Kanto as a region up to Cerulean. 4/5

Gen II: Again, I like the Pokemon. The characters, not so much. Great music. Johto is probably my favourite region. I greatly enjoy the atmosphere, and how nearly every town has a moderately sized dungeon. The new mechanics were great. 5/5

Gen III: I don't care for most of the Pokemon, or the characters. The song composition is fine, but the trumpets wear on me. Hoenn has some neat areas, but I hate the water routes, and the general path through the game. Natures/Abilities are hit and miss. Double battles are cool. Contests are awful. I don't like the aesthetic of the GBA games. 3/5

Gen IV: I like the Pokemon (though I feel the dex falls apart towards the end). I like the characters (the most of any gen, I think). I found the music mostly forgettable. I greatly enjoy Sinnoh. The games run annoyingly slow. I actually like the story better here than in Gen V. It's probably the best execution of "same old same old" aside from Gen I, haha. Has my favourite post-game in the series. Physical/Special split. 4/5

4.5/5 if battles were quicker.

Gen V: The Pokemon designs range from great to awful. The characters are mediocre. The music is great. Unova is nice, but I hate the large cities. Mechanically, the games are fantastic. 4/5

Gen V-2: The Pokemon distribution is fantastic. The characters are still mediocre. The music is still great. New Unova is significantly improved (but I still hate the large cities), and the mechanics are even better. They have a problem with forced tutorials in the same way Gen IV has a problem with battle speed. PWT is pretty neat. 4.5/5

5/5 if not for tutorials and Castelia.

I like Monster Rancher.

Kanto: My least favorite region. In my opinion, it's good on its own, but is kinda plain and boring compared to other regions. There aren't a whole lot of Kanto Pokemon that I like. Team Rocket are just normal criminals trying to make money. The region itself is kinda boring compared to others, and there were only a few songs from the Kanto games that I like. Although, I can see how some people would like it more because of how simple it is.

Johto: I like Johto much more than Kanto, but it's still far from my favorite. I like the region itself more, as it is a little more varied with some interesting places like Ice Path and Ruins of Alph. The Pokemon designs are also a lot better in my opinion, with a lot more that I like. The music in Soul Silver is also my favorite (Tied with Emerald). My one problem with Johto is how much of a pain it is to level up, with the highest leveled wild Pokemon being in the 40s, if I remember right.

Hoenn: My second favorite region. A lot of people seem to hate it, but I really like it. The region itself is pretty varied (except for the huge ocean that you have to surf through towards the end...), and in terms of Pokemon designs, it's tied with Unova for my favorite. Emerald is tied with Soul Silver for having my favorite soundtrack. Also, secret bases were awesome, and I would love if Gamefreak brought them back on a 3DS Pokemon game, and had them work with Streetpass. Team Magma/Aqua are more interesting than Team Rocket, but they're complete idiots. My only problem with Hoenn is the large amount of water, which pretty much everyone else has mentioned.

Sinnoh: Another region that seems to get a lot of hate, but I really like it. I like the region itself for the same reason I like Hoenn. While a lot of people seem to hate the Pokemon designs, I really like them (Except for some of the Kanto evolutions). It also has some of my favorite legendary Pokemon. Also, Team Galactic were a cool evil team, and for once, they were actually a threat! There was also a lot to do after you beat the elite four, with the Battle Zone or whatever it was called.

Unova: My favorite region so far. As for the region itself, I think what I've said about Hoenn and Sinnoh also applies to Unova. There were a lot of interesting areas like Chargestone Cave, N's Castle (Both versions), and B/W 2's victory road, which I thought was really cool. I really like Unova's Pokemon designs too. Team Plasma is my favorite evil team by far. They were the most interesting evil team in B/W, and in B/W 2, they were the most of a threat, because they actually seemed to know what they're doing. There were also a lot more characters that stood out to me than in the other games, like N, Colress, and Hugh.
Aaaaand I think that's all, although I'm probably forgetting something...

I've never played Gens I or II - just the remakes, so I'll rate the regions in those cases.

Kanto (FR, HG): Great Pokémon, just terribly distributed until you get to the Safari Zone. Not much to do outside the meh badge quest, regrettably, especially if we exclude the Sevii Islands. Music fair if forgettable.

Johto (HG): Decent region saved by nabbing Sinnoh's Battle Frontier in Gen IV. Awful Pokémon distribution yet again, despite a fairly decent bunch of Gen II-introduced Pokémon. Music somewhat better.

Hoenn (Emerald): The Battle Frontier alone makes this more playable than most Pokémon games. An inspired new bunch of Pokémon though mostly underpowered.

Sinnoh (P, Pt): Much improved battlewise in physical/special split, many very important moves. Pokémon distribution awful and lacking in original Pokémon. The badge quest was a painfully drawn-out experience rewarded with an outstanding Battle Frontier. Probably the best music, but presentation marred by not taking more advantage of the DS and its features.

Unova (B, W, W2): Pokémon and their distribution all top-notch (plus important toys to encourage use of a wide range of them: Eviolite, infinite TMs, hidden abilities, etc). Lack of any place to use them in mixed battles vs NPCs, though. I'd have given high-quality battles priority over that pointless type-specialist piece of fan service that made you miss the Cold Storage.

Not to mention that Gen 3 is responsible for IVs.

It's not.
