something that i think would be great for future games.

lit paths in caves basically "safe" zones that wild pokemon dont enter. caves could be alot more bearable if they where more like other areas where there was safe portions to walk through. im not saying every cave, nor am i saying only a few. more like most have these lit paths, but with paths that lead into portions with out good lighting, or whole portions of the caves that are like these classic ones.

it also be nice if they could do something similar with water areas. but honestly i think this would make caves a little more bearable. even if they where full of zubats, and geodudes

yeah, but they dont always work. also with that logic, every route should be nothing but grass. and paths through them should still have random encounters.

Repels DO always work. Just make sure your lead is a higher level than the surrounding wildlife.

The point though is. That it be nice to not have to rely on repels when going through caves. Maybe you can't afford them. Maybe you don't have a lead pokemon that is of a higher level.

I feeel like thats sort of the whole point. Repels are a luxury...you SHOULD find yourself in situations where you cant afford them, and you SHOULD be in situations where you dont quite outlevel every wild pokemon. After you've gone through ~70% of the game and have a high level party and more cash than you know what to do with, THEN you can walk around with a bag full of endless repels. Thats your REWARD for getting that far. Youve earned the right to avoid pointless battles after spending the bulk of the game grinding through them.

I like this idea. And the parts that aren't lighted up still have encounters.
