Why did they change fire blast?

Didn't fire blast use to be in the shape of some sort of Japanese letter that means great or something? I don't remember exactly how it went, but it was sort of man/stick figure shaped (I don't remember if it was a Kanji or some other style of Japanese writing, but I'm sure you all get the idea)? I thought that was a cool concept.

Now it's just five streams coming out from a center point with equal angles between the five. More symmetrical around the center point, I suppose, but nowhere near as cool. Why simplify it? Yeah, most American's wouldn't get the meaning, but who cares? It's not like it didn't look cool regardless.
There's nothing that sucks worse that that moment in an argument when you realize that you are wrong.

It was the symbol for "big" or "great". Not was. It still is. It's the same.
The official Megami Tensei Art Loki of the Shin Megami Tensei IV board. Why? Why not? Because. Maybe. Exactly. My hair is bigger than you.

Fire Blast used to make the kanji for big, and I think there was a joke somewhere where it became the kanji for small for some reason (anime? one of the manga?)... however, the animation in that new trailer definitely looks like it is just making a star shape now.

Not quite. It's similar, but it's closer to "great".
