Is Grant the first openly gay character?..The one you've been waiting years for?

He has a very feminine physique, jewelry in his hair, and even a feminine face.

I need to remind you I am talking about the games, strictly. You already know the anime had a gay character a decade ago:

ITT: If a man is feminine it means he's gay.

Umm... i don't see it. His body figure is of an average physicaly fit male. Hair in anime is never a good indicator, and who knows, they could be something other than jewels. His face looks male to me. I just don't see how he is hay in anyway. If you ask me, Burgh looks 10 times more femenine than this guy.

I'm all for gay rights.

But that doesn't mean a game marketed to 10-12 year olds NEEDS an openly gay character and we should ask them for it.

Sexuality of all kinds doesn't belong in Pokemon. Hell, ROMANCE hasn't even been in the games as far as I can tell. Some NPCs are married but that's the extent of it--you never see any demonstrations of it. Because the game just doesn't need it.

I agree to an extent, but only because of the romance bit. Pokemon should probably stay as asexual as possible just because it's a kids game, but I think it'd be nice if there was a married gay couple or something like that. The idea of flaunting around a gay character does more harm than good sometimes, but if some random insignificant NPCs just happened to be gay it could help kids understand that it's perfectly normal and that they should be 100% accepting.

I'm pretty sure James was the first gay character. Harley was a close second.
