1. Mega Evolutions arent part of the Pokedex
2. They are accessed by special items
3. The 3DS supports DLC, meaning Game Freak can continue creating Mega Evolutions add releasing the special items this way

I see no reason why they wouldn't.

As long as they don't make us buy them I don't mind.

It's the fact that Game Freak haven't said we will. If they only do a certain amount of Mega Evolutions and stop till Gen 7 or Pokemon Z, there is truly no excuse why they couldnt keep releasing them via DLC
