The toughest gym leader pokemon in each generation

#1smallface_grayPosted 8/21/2013 10:29:25 PM
Which one frustrated you more than anything? Did you in your 2nd play-through train a specific pokemon/developed a different strategy in advance to beat it?

GEN 1: MISTY'S STARMIE, That thing with recover is so frustrating
GEN 2: CLAIR'S KINGDRA, It's a tank and she heals it twice once you've almost killed it.
GEN 3: WINONA'S ALTARIA, If you let it dragon dance once or twice, it'll sweep your whole party.
GEN 4: ....... None I found them all easy
GEN 5: ELESA'S EMOLGA, static paralyze, double team, volt switch : nightmare

Gen 1: Starmie definitely, especially if lacking a pikachu or bulbasaur.

Gen 2: Whitney's miltank lol.

Gen 3: Wallace's milotic, but not so much

Gen 4: Volkner, unprepared

Gen 5: Iris

1: Brock in Yellow, Misty otherwise
2: Claire is probably the more consistent choice even if Whitney has reached meme territory
3. Winoa and her Altaria definitely.
4. Maylene or possibly Volkner since Lucario has few weaknesses you can actually exploit at that point and Volkner likes to pack a few Water or Ice moves for Ground Types.
5. Drayden and his crit hax, or Clay and his Excadrill.

Kanto: Misty's Starmie (one of the few pokemon from gen 1's gyms i remembered, must've been pretty hard

Johto: Morty's Gengar. I honestly had no problems what so ever with the Miltank from what i remember.

Hoenn: Single Pokemon I think Winona's Altaria, although Brawly's whole gym is hard for that early in the game

Sinnoh: Idk,.. Wakes Gyarads since i didn't have any electric types at the time. Sinnoh had pretty easy gyms compared to other regions

Unova: Clay's Excadrill (stupid bulldozer killed Pignite every time!!!)

Kanto: Starmie off course.
Johto: Hmm, can't really remember. But I agree Clair's Kingdra was pretty hard.
Hoenn: Really dun remember this, maybe the twins cuz Double battle.
Sinnoh: None, they are not hard.
Unova: Same. Eventhough I'm always a bit afraid of Clay's Excadrill, I tend to one shot it everytime. XD

1.Sabrina's broken Alakazam
2.Whitney's miltank.Clair was a walk in the park
3.Flannery if you have sceptile
4.I forgot
5.Elesa's electric zebra and squirrel

1) I agree, that Starmie is an outright pain.
2) Clair's Kingdra. Any other answer is simply wrong.
3) When I was younger, half the gyms gave me trouble. Now they're all easy to curbstomp, though.
4) In Platinum, Fantina gives me some trouble. Dunno why.
5) If you have a rock type to deal with Elesa's Emolga, then everyone is easy as hell.
