looking for a few others to help me come up with a new style playthrough.

my original plan was to style it kinda like ash goes through the league. but at the same time i dont want it to be just a full time of unevolved pokemon.

now im thinking of setting up a team cost system, with pokemon have a cost that varies depending on various factors, and with a variety of factors getting you a higher team cost limit.

my thought is to group pokemon into 4-5 groups, based on base state totals, how evolved they are, if they are legendary (or pseudo). possibly incorporating attacks into there cost, as well as there level.

the goal is to make it flow well, as well as add challenge (but not quite the challenge of a nuzlocke). to limit but also allow flexability. if we do this right you could either say have 4 pokemon two evolved at a certain point, or 6 none evolved at the same point, or 1 really really strong at that point.

so anyone interested in helping me figure this out? has this already been done? would you be interested in playing this way, if I (and hopefully others) get a decent system figured out?

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I just had to comment on how you thought nuzlocke is challenging, to which I say.....

Pshaw.

like for example.

before the first gym you have a team cost of 10. your starter is 5 in its base stage, 7 in its second stage, and a pidgy is 4, and a ratata is 3, in there base stage.

so either you could have a team of your base stage starter, and a pidgy or ratata, or evolve your starter but only get to have a ratata. or a team of i pidgy and two ratata.

and how do you want to determine that for each and every single pokemon?

thats part of why i was hoping to find others interested in helping with this.

my original thought was base stats though. like group 1 could be pokemon from bases stat a to b, group 2 could be from base stat b to c. and so on.

Both Smogon and Pokemon Online have random battles where the level for each Pokemon is set based on how useful it is. I think Magikarp is Lv. 100 while Arceus is Lv. 70. If you can get a list of all of the levels of the Pokemon, it would be easy to convert it to a point system.

If you want something simpler, you could go with something like this:

Baby Pokemon/useless Basics (Pichu, Magikarp, etc.): 0 points
Basic Pokemon that evolve (Rattata, Pikachu, Bagon, Squirtle, etc.): 1 point
Basic Pokemon that evolved in a later game and stage 1 Pokemon that evolve (Misdreavus, Scyther, Quilava, etc.): 2 points
Basic Pokemon that don't evolve and stage 1 Pokemon that don't evolve (Heracross, Fearow, etc.): 3 points
Stage 2 Pokemon (Nidoking, Charizard, etc.): 4 points
Pseudo-legends and legends with a BST <=600 (Garchomp, Zapdos, Mew, etc.): 5 points
Legends with a BST > 600 (Ho-oh, Mewtwo, etc.): 6 points.

Then you can figure out how many points you should have at each stage. There are obvious flaws with this (i.e. Scyther is much better than Dunsparce or Fearow) but there shouldn't be too many Pokemon that need to be moved around.

im trying to figure out if a low point system like that works. cause its also a matter of figuring out how often and when you gain, more team cost points.

also im thinking incorporating attacks in may be a factor. which is a whole other thing.
