Credit for the name and set goes to Serebii, but I thought of this set as a 9 year-old playing Platinum :P I know Close Combat doesnt have a heightened critical hit ratio, but sometimes I use it just for STAB, and it does get some criticals in occasionally.
Escavalier@Chesto Berry Careful nature Shell Armor 248 hp, 252 spdef, 8 atk Megahorn Iron Head Iron Defense Rest
While sacrificing stuff like pursuit, giving this guy a turn to set up can not only make him a dangerous tank, but also nab a couple of laughs. I remember walling an entire person's team with this set, forgot to copy the link though >_>
I was thinking of the same thing except on a Skarmory.
While Skarmory boasts a base 140 def and roost, that's pretty much it when comparing to Escavalier if you want a tank/wall
-Skarmory is OU, so if I used Escavalier in the same environment, he can get rain support like Scizor -Escavalier has more special defense than Skarmory, while retaining a solid defense (-35 in def, for +35 in spdef) -Shell Armor guarantees Escavalier won't be screwed over by a lucky crit (if you've used CM sets, you know what I'm talking about) -RestoChesto is good for either bouncing back and taking an offensive, or to stall out weaker attackers (it puts a smile on your face when you turn a battle around) -Escavalier has an attack stat equal to Scizor, giving him offensive presence as well (can 2HKO a 252/4 Blastoise with just 8 in atk)
Adamant nature, max attack and max speed EV's. It's pretty fun to Fake out, slow them, and then seed bomb/explode and while it's always fun to take out a jynx or whatever however it can be pretty useless sometimes and a waste of a pokemon so I'm replaying SS to get a Swords Dance/Sub/Sucker Punch Shiftry because finding an editor can be pretty hard.
