Myths / Legends that haven't been made into Pokemon.

There are always plenty of topics about animals that haven't been made into Pokemon yet, but I think what often gets forgotten is how many Pokemon are based, not simply on an animal, but on a myth or legend or other cultural reference.

Brozor and Bronzong are based on a Japanese story:

Whimsicott is based on the myth of the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetable_Lamb_of_Tartary

Beheeyem's story was inspired by the Roswell UFO incident, and its design even hints at a War of the Worlds reference:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Beheeyem_(Pok%C3%A9mon)#Origin

The Turtwig line is based on the legend of the Word Turtle:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_turtle

Starmie is, very literally, based on the "Starfish Alien" trope:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StarfishAliens

Even the seemingly simplest Pokemon like Meowth can be based on something more than just a cat:

And those are just the ones I feel like getting links for. So, instead of animals, how about we talk about what kinds of myths and legends and cultural references could inspire cool Pokemon? Could the Medusa of Greek mythology make for a cool, legendary Poison/Rock Pokemon? Could the urban legend of the Jackalope make for an interesting early rodent, Normal-type? What about a Bug/Psychic spider with Insomnia that weaves Dream-Catcher webs? Take a myth, legend, or cultural reference, and turn it into a Pokemon.

Is there a Spring-Heeled Jack pokemon? I'm not sure that would work though.

Thank you, gentlemen! Someday, I will repay you. Unless, of course, I can't find you or if I forget.

I don't think there are Pokémon based on the Jinn, or genies here in the West. They would make for good Ghost/Fire type ones, since they are said to be spirits born of smokeless fire. (I know, there's already a ghost and fire dual type Pokémon)

Ghouls, also Arabic, would be pretty awesome Pkmn too. Or the Chupacabra maybe?

I would like to see something that represents the conflict between Science and Religion, but that won't happen.

How bout Beo Wulf and Grendel?
Perseus and Medusa
Hercules and the 12 labours
Representation of the 7 deadly sins,
A proper story of 4 elemental legends, of Land, Sea, Sky and Fire
The legend of sleepy hollow

Just to name a few.

I'm fresh off the FMA hype train, which is probably influencing my decision, but I think that could be an awesome idea. As long as they weren't legendaries, or people would hate the whole set for there being "too many" of them.

Jinn is a correct spelling too. Even more, jinn is the original spelling. Innyway, yeah I suppose the Kami trio were kind of inspired by the jinn. Riding the winds, being worshipped by some people,...

I've always wanted a Water/Ghost type based off a mermaid or siren.

Mermaid (not The Little Mermaid mind you):

Siren:
