The theme of the cities/towns in Kalos are FLOWERS! lol

Ok, so I got curious about this and wrote a bit about it on another topic and it got me thinking....
"Wth is Kalos gonna do? And why did GF emphasize beauty as a focal point in the region?"
And then it hit me! Vaniville is vanilla and is made from plants/flowers...so I thought of the nature and how beautiful it is...
So I did a bit more oogling and here's what I came up with..

Vaniville Town - With Vaniville deriving from vanilla of course or Vanilla planifolia the Spanish translation for "little-pod" and how it also touch on roots. Hypothetically speaking of the MC's roots or in this case their hometown.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanilla_planifolia

Santalune City - Derived from the scientific word santalum album or sandalwood which are a sort of flowering plants which are parasitic that seek out the root systems of other trees for nutrients and water. So with that in mind, makes it a perfect name for the home of the Bug type Gym (not in a literal parasite sense)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santalum

Lumiose City - Do I really need to emphasize on Lumiouse? I mean it's the grandiose city and main focal center of Kalos. With it's name coming from La Ville-Lumière which translates into the City of Lights. How it branches out into many different pathways in Kalos makes sense how it will be the rose (flower) Bulbapedia touches up on this.

Shalour City - This city gets in name from the Shorea robusta also most commonly known as sal or shala tree. I don't wanna make false assumption but these trees are known to be moderate and slow growing which might fit the Fighting type theory going on with Korinna.

Also, Flabébé may have been influenced by the Little Prince...just saying.

Shout out to my homie Bulbapedia for helping me out with this, especially with Lumiose! Damn this city got me stuck for a while.

Well yeah, but Johto as a whole region fails. It will forever be known as the region that can't hold its own weight or stand on its own.

All of this actually makes sense. It all fits with the French concept. Flabebe being based on the little prince is an idea I really like that is extremely reasonable and likely, especially since the writer of the book is French.

I recall someone positing art genres as the source of the town names: vanitas (+ville) for Vaniville, santo + lumia for Santalune, and lumia again for Lumiose - dunno about Shalour City unless there's a technical meaning for chaleur in the art world.

Neither theory explains them all though. Lumiose's connection with flowers is weak and Shalour has nothing really to do with art.

Yeah and how the prince is depicted as standing on it's own domain per se and how the flower it finds.. almost in a sense gives life to the prince.

Idk man lol
Yeah, I was pretty much grasping for straws on that one. Though, we can also connect it to luminous flowers with some being very bright at night as Paris itself is know as the city of Lights.

well johto was more about trees than flowers. (mahogany, ecruteak, etc)
i can see the flower thing in kalos, though i think your explanation of shalour is...
well lets say i think the name derives from something different. the rest seems plausible
oh and for lumiose: the word "rose" is hidden at the end of the name. luminous rose.
i like it.
i think shalour has to do with shore, and shallow... which would fit the "arts" or "personality" theme...hmm
