A possible way around Pokebank for all you cheap people out there.

Get someone who has the service and the old versions of each game.
Trade with that person in the old editions
Use the bank
Trade in the new games.

There is also the free trial. Just got to get all you want to get within the time period into your in-game boxes.

Alternatively, just use the free trial and transfer everything you need to and withdraw them all immediately.

Money isn't the issue here to me, though.

What you people with your "free alternatives" don't realize is that trading forward is a constant process.

You who want to make it a "one time thing" are saying "never play an old pokemon game ever again."

And have you ever considered that some people will still want to go back and play them?

Pokecheck will likely still be thing. Which is pretty much a better free version of Poke bank.

You do realize that TC's "free alternative" will continue being available and free even after you go back and play old Pokemon games?

Not really. You can still play Gen 1 games if you like.

It's almost like basic intelligence goes out the window the second anyone applies a reasonable charge to anything.

Speaking of Pokecheck, does it leave anything traceable when you transfer a pokemon from 4th gen to 5th gen?

Inexpensive =/= reasonable.

Charging for something that should be free (or at least in this case, included in the price of the game itself) is never a "reasonable charge."

Because pokemon bank and pokecheck serves the same purpose, I think Nintendo might actually take it down.

Pokemon withdrawn from pokecheck gives the withdrawn pokemon an event medal that disallows it ti be uploaded on wifi. I actually used pokecheck pokemon in vgcs before and they were all legal.
