yfw you cant access it with different friend codes

At this day and age you still think 3DS doesn't have a unified code?

and this day and age nintendo uses things called "friend codes"

i dont play much on the nds, let alone multiplayer, so i have no idea if what you're saying is true

but if it is, you could still be f***ed changing dses or any other number of things

You do know there is this thing called System Transfer.

Seriously do you people even know what a 3DS is?

New Game+ isn't generally a feature you have to buy as DLC in games.

I'd be more comfortable with the Bank+Transporter deal if it wasn't an annual payment. I know they're doing the annual fee because of ongoing server costs, but think about that for a second.

$5 x 1 million = $5,000,000 (Considering how many sales the main pokemon games get, Pokemon Bank sales will likely be even more than that)

Are you seriously telling me that a cloud server costs over 5 million per year to run?
A one time payment would bring in more than enough income to support their servers.

Do you not have a 5 dollars every year for a program that you can use for the REST OF YOUR LIFE?

I love that. It's not like the games have it but, the bank can act as a New Game+ in permitting us to store Pokémon from an old file, starting a new record after deleting our old one, then accessing the Pokémon stored from the prior one(s). There's a fee after the trial period ends and it's a subscription that requires an annual fee to run and maintain/keep or use/access again.

Maybe it's not the principle of getting another app, but the fact that people want to pay for a game once w/o it or at least pay for an app on the side and have it at the set price as bought like the other apps (using local storage instead). Also, they didn't have pay for a service (continually at that) to transfer before for these games (kept within the games) as long as the hardware was available. As stated before, though, it's optional and doesn't stop progression of what's within the games themselves.

They don't just use one server, there's a few servers including some backup servers in what's called a 'cool room', these rooms are almost freezing cold to prevent the servers from overheating. Running a cool room and several servers isn't cheap, and can easily climb to the millions/year.

A specialised server isn't as cheap to operate as your PC, they have high end expensive components that require regular maintenance. The people who do the maintenance and monitoring of the servers have to be paid as well.

I gave up and did the 3DS transfer anyway...

I love the idea and cannot wait. I am in the process of transferring over 40 pokemon from two games to my Vault (White) so that I can sell the two games along with my 3DS to get the Blue XY XL. This process is gonna take me many hours to complete. Bank would make this so much easier.

Local storage, even for other devices, is what many want but, this method IS effective in preventing hacking/illegitimately buffed and moveset generated or altered Pokémon.

If that really is the case, then why not just make the Poke Transporter a one time fee and have the annual fee for those that want to use the Bank to store their pokemon? Sounds fair enough to me.

The annual fee for transferring is what I have problem with, transferring from previous gens is something I literally only do like once or twice per year, so when I'm faced with a situation where i only want to transfer a couple of pokemon, I'm being made to pay for a service I'm unlikely to use for the rest of the year. And if I want to transfer another few pokemon a year later, that's another $5. It's not like my pokemon are going to be up there using the server space for a long time, I just want to transfer.
