Anyone else disappointed at Noivern's type?

Not to sound like a doofus, but is there really any difference between Flying/Dragon and Dragon/Flying?

Movepool. Noivern would possibly learn less dragon typed moves than Salamence but learn a wide variety of flying typed moves than the afforementioned Salamence.

bit disappointing but it makes sense considering its inspirations. plus like said unique in the type order.

do hope it has some fun abilities though....and a prevo...or two.

I'm not. The name "Noivern" kind of shouted out it's Dragon typing and the fact that it's animation has it flying seemed like the Flying type was a given.

I always find it disappointing when a Pokemon doesn't even get STAB on its signature move. Same goes for special-type signatures on physical attack-oriented Pokemon, or vice versa.

Unless Noivern is a pseudo legend with a broken ability and has really good stat distribution it is just going to be outclassed by Salamence and Dragonite like how Staraptor and partly Swellow outclassing every other Normal/Flying and making them useless.

Poison/Dragon would have been good.

Hoping for one this gen. As well as Poison/Steel.

Who knows, maybe they might change STAB mechanic this Gen.

Primary type STAB is 1.6 and secondary STAB is 1.4

Just an example of things they could do with the Primary/Secondary typings.

huh.....that be interesting.... and add purpose to type order..... maybe they could do something similar to defenses too. like x2 for your primary type, and x1.5 for your secondary.

I really get the impression Noivern is being designed intentionally to be middling to sort of help introduce us to the concept of dragons as something other than always just short of legendary. Along with the dreaded fairies, of course.

Noivern looks to be a special attacker though. If it gets something to abuse like Hurricane, along side a special attack stat that's higher than Dragonite's, it could easily carve out its own niche.
