1. Why are some people saying Game Freak might remove IV's? Do you think they look at this game from a metagame point of view? No, they don't. IV's make Pokemon unique, they're not gonna randomly get rid of them because some crybabies in a very small minority want them to.

The main reason why they're introducing EVs officially and doing something new to IVs this gen is because of how many hackers and cheaters rigging the system to get perfect pokemon. Gamefreak made a huge deal about this after their last tournament where they announced that they caught at least 1500 people with hacked pokemon and estimated that there were a lot more. EVs and IVs are almost the sole reason as to why there were so many cheaters in the first place due to how time consuming it is to get an EV trained pokemon with semi decent IVs.

And if you want to look at IVs from a metagame point of view, it's not a good idea since competitive people are only going to want the best pokemon, it's incredibly difficult and time consuming to get respectable stats, and this setback results in raising the bar of entry into finally playing in the metagame. It's not hard to see why people think Gamefreak might cut it out entirely.

Wishful thinking. Gamefreak hasn't said/done even ONE thing that means they will remove IV's. They're not even enough of a factor outside of Smogon users for Gamefreak to address. The majority if Pokemon players have no idea what IV's are.
