If my friend wants the legendary bird, does he buy pokemon X or Y?

I think in Pokemon black/White they reversed the legendaries in the games from what was on the cover for contrast purposes and I wanted to know if that was the same here.

Y. If you look at the box arts, the color corresponds to the color of the legendary.

He buys Y.

I only asked cause of what Pokemon Black/White did. It was weird how they threw a curveball there.

True, but you still get the Pokémon on the front of the box.

And then Gamefreak righted the wrong with Black 2 and White 2. Using the correct Kyurem form colors for the correct version name.

So... Gamefreak had it planned all along!

I know there has been a bit of information listed somewhere that Yveltal (The bird) is exclusive to Y, and Xerneas (The deer) exclusive to X. But, what I'm hoping for is a Gold/Silver idea, where Lugia can be caught in Gold, but Lugia is a higher level, and then the opposite of that. Would be cool if they implemented that idea in X and Y.

Unless Gamefreak decides to do another curveball plot twist.

They reversed the colour of the Pokemon from the name of the game, but the Pokemon on the box was still the Pokemon you got in the game.

Not changing this sig until Capcom starts giving a damn about Mega Man again.

Yes. But they put Reshiram (the white one) on Black's box art and Zekrom (the black one) on White's box art. And those were the ones you got.
