I'm thinking the National Dex is only going to 738 this time.

The free code for GottaCatchEmAll.com was "XY738A" which got me thinking: why 738? I know it's a long stretch, but it makes sense. 738 adds 89 new Pokemon, which isn't too much, but even generations don't usually add a ton of Pokemon; Gen II had 100 more Pokemon, and Gen IV had 107 more. However, there were 25 evolutions and preevolutions of old Pokemon in Gen IV, meaning there were 82 new, unaffiliated Pokemon. Gen II had 17 new evolutions and preevoluitions, meaning 83 new, unaffiliated Pokemon. This generation, we have Mega Evolutions, which fill the gap of evolutions.

Wow, that would mean we've seen almost half the dex already.

I doubt the free code was an indication of anything.

I hated Gens 2 and 4, and I'll hate this gen too if that happens.

Yveltal's code is Y8H7, so we take away the Y because it's from Y version, then convert 8H7 from base 18 to base 10, and we get 2905.

So that will be the final number of Pokemon in XY.

Well, you have to take Xerneas' into account as well.

Xerneas's code is X7M4. Convert from base 23 to base 10 and we get 4213.

Subtract Y from X to get 1308.

This is actually a much more reasonable number, so I'm going with that instead of 2905.

here's the current ammounts added in each gen starting with gen 2.
100,135,107,156

notice how even numbered gens don't get a lot of new pokemon and odd number gens get a lot?

notice how each even numbered gen is higher the last even number?
hell you could say the same with odd numbered gens if you exclude gen 1

therefore my guess is this gen we get some where above 107 new pokemon but below 135.

my guess is 129/130 because we've gotten an average of 129.8 pokemon per gen.

I won't be surprised if it is. I won't find out either, unless everything is leaked a week early, as I'm going out of country for two years, sans video games, on October 9th...
