If any type should get a freeze dry clone, it's grass

Make a grass type attack that's super effective on bug type Pokemon. Hell, make it exclusive to the likes of carnivine, victreebel, and such.

Pokemon universe or no, the thought of pitcher plants being unable to deal with bugs has irked me for a long time.

I totally second this. Plants really need the support too... what with Scizor dominating the upper tiers, and things like Escavalier in the lower tiers. I'd want it to be Physical though, even though I'm sure most would want it to be Special.

Venus trap:
Type: Grass
Bp: 45
Acc: 100
Physical

Also super effective against bug types, no matter secondary typing.

Really, just 45 BP? Then the already existing Leaf Blade would be far better in amost every situation.

I don't think Freeze dry will ignore the Pokemon second typing. I think the move will probably do neutral damage on Walrein, for example.

But I see how they could probably make the move take only the opponent's water type into account.
