Because of time zones, other countries will most likely receive the game before you do. If you're worried about the starter evolutions, you'll probably be able to see them before the game actually comes out due to this

I'm getting it just because I like to look at guide books, even though I don't "use" them for play.

They are just fun to have, and look at at times. I have a small collection of guide books for my favorite games, even quite a few CEs. Still have the FF VII up to X-2 Brady Games guides, and multiple Pokemon ones. LE of Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy XIII (hell I didn't even like the XIII series), etc.
