I'm no artist and I can't even draw a stick figure but i never got all the b****** and moaning about inanimate pokemon. most rpgs have stuff like trash for monsters, clocks, violins and other random crap. why should pokemon be different?

While I generally have nothing against these kinds of Pokemon, I can at least understand why others do.

These are living, breathing creatures that are meant to, within the games own logic, realistically exist. Yes you can kinda argue similar to other RPGs, but Pokemon is almost meant to be a representation of a world quite similar to ours, and with wildlife that has evolved and adapted and..it just makes more sense for things to be..animals than for them to be objects.

Things get retconned or change, do you genwuns ever get that? They drifted away from that notion, and even so, is it Pokenimals or is it Pokemon, ala Pocket Monsters?

But there have always been inanimate objects as Pokemon, ever since Gen 1. It'd be against tradition to not have one or two this gen.

He is talking about the people that say "Oh Gamefreak is running out of ideas, this Pokemon is trash!".

There is a difference in not liking a design, but it makes no sense to say they are running out of ideas when their ideas are actually pretty neat.

How is "it's and object that magically came to life" any more creative than "it's a turtle that shoots water out its mouth"

If you really don't understand this then you're either a bad troll or too young to be on the internet

I'm asking a legitimate question and I'm still awaiting an answer.

Turtles live in water. The general premise is already there. Inanimate objects are lifeless, they lack the ability to do anything on their own. It takes more of an imagination to be able to design a lifeless object into a living, breathing thing.

Pokemon are living creatures.
Inanimate objects are not living creatures.
For that is the definition of inanimate.

The idea for Klefki almost certainly grew out of a designer desperately looking around the room for something that he could turn into a pokemon.

I didn't plan to reply anything actually, but I'm proud that you have already accomplished 1/3 of the creative process after reading my post.

Now you just need to design the sock Pokemon and animate it.

You don't realise it, but the sock Pokemon actually has creative value in it.

But the thing is, there is no rules that say it can't not be in a Fantasy RPG.

Why are you calling him a Genwunner? He's not saying anything even vaguely genwunner-ish.

TC does have a point. a horse already has life in it and references to go by.
a toaster doesn't as much. just the part where toast shoots out. show you have to decide the type. well steel obviously but do you make it steel electric because it's machine or steel fire because it cooks. also how will you give it life with out making it look wonky AND it has to look plausible in the universe it is put in. a horse..well you make it act like a horse and make it look different.

It is this desperation that proves that the designer wasn't lazy, but actually wanting strongly to create something new.
