Of course it does, we're over 700 now, that's more than any other game!

...In-game?

No, but the actual number is more than halfway there. Don't wanna get more specific for spoilers

1. 450 pokemon in the region dex. That is the most ever, mostly due to the new grass system.

2. I'm not sure but here is the map of Kalos with town and city overlays.

It has 450 to catch in the game.
So you would need to transfer the other 268 from Gen 5.
That's 718 Pokemon all available in the game.

Of course that's if you believe these leak guys.

Seriously where is the proof?
Not talking about pictures of the Pokemon, talking about a picture of the in game Pokedex with the actual numbers.

Not some random tweet that says that Zyguarde is number 718.

Still missing 29 Pokemon from the regional Pokedex.
Plus no word on Fishing Pole (been in EVERY game).
Or possible Safari Zone/Nature Preseve/Other area.

Plus in the last game we had extremely rare Pokemon in dark grass, tall grass, shaking grass, whirlpool (surf or fish), etc.

There is a safari type zone. It is some kind of friend safari zone where you go into a little area with grass based on your friend's game and you can get pokemon from it. Also the list of pokemon you can get from it grows if your friend is online at the time you are doing it.

Also as far as your doubts about Zygarde being 718
http://cdn.idigitaltimes.com/data/images/full/2013/10/06/12161.jpg

Right from Kanpachi.

Also we know how the regional dex works because we have seen shots of each of the three divisions of the dex all with the last number being 150.

However since those have been around a couple days the images are a pain in the ass to find. Unlike the Zygarde which you just type his name and you find the images.

OK that is all I really needed, was that picture.
However remember that all the previous Gens had Pokemon after the final numbered Pokemon.

Gen 1: Mew was after Mewtwo
Gen 2: Celebi was after Ho-Oh
Gen 3: Jirachi & Deoxys after Rayquaza
Gen 4: Cresselia, Manaphy, Phione, Darkrei, Shaymin, and Arceus after Giratina.
Gen 5: Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect after Kyurem.

Current expectations is that we will get an event pixie like every generation.

Also there is a cave in the middle of nowhere that you enter and it is a single small room with absolutely nothing in it.* At the same time in the actual region there are several NPCs who talk about a legendary wolf of some kind.

So the current theory is that something special has to be brought to the cave to get the wolf to appear or you have to trigger something. We currently have no clue.

Also there is a cave with a giant mirror in it that seems to just be decorative.

The grass has flowers in it. The flowers can have different colors like red, blue, yellow etc.

Based on the color of flower there is a different spawn list. So if you are running in red flowers you will find one group of pokemon and if you run around in yellow flowers you will get another group. On the same route.

Which is why the per-route amount of pokemon is far larger this generation.

Like in this image you can see yellow flowers and purple flowers. If you walk through one for an hour and catch everything in it and then go over to the other you will find different pokemon.

However there is still normal tall grass too.
