Why did they get so lazy with the Flying type Pokemon models?

#1neoblue107Posted 10/17/2013 5:14:13 PM
They could have easily made two seperate models, one for regular battles and one for Sky Battles.

It really messes up some Pokemon like Skarmory and Xatu... They look incredibly stupid floating in midair, their face jutting out at you. Xatu looks like a plank of wood. ;_;

Yeah, although it's a minor complaint, I agree.

Skarmory looked weird because its sprite was usually all cool standing up. Same goes for the other Pokemon.
I'm pretty sure Stadium had two animations for flying and standing, but then again there were only 251 Pokemon then and not like 600+ like now.

I hate seeing sigs with PC specs on them.

Totally agree. Maybe skybattles and models will be more fleshed out in the next one.

700+ to be corrected.

Generation 1 has 151

Generation 2 got 100

Generation 3 covered 135

Generation 4 updated by 107

Generation 5 hit up at 186

And Generation 6 has 69 plus 20+ Mega Evolutions

All that summed up to 718 total of Pokémon by X/Y, and 738+ total of Pokémon, if we counted Mega Evolution, at that point.

I'm pretty sure several flying types have grounded and flying models. Murkrow for example.

He didn't need to be corrected. 600+ is still correct.

From what I've seen, if it has a grounded model, it can't do sky battles. So dumb I couldn't use Ducklett or Doduo.

Sky battles in general just kind of irk me. It was sort of hyped as this "cool new awesome battle type," but in the end, it's just a battle except you can't use as many of your Pokemon. They may as well have just made surfing battles instead, so you don't have weird crap like Golem standing on the water. Same concept as sky battles except something that might actually help maintain immersion as opposed to just being something "new."

Well, 700's better chance to be appropriate answer instead of 600 - 600 is before Gen 6.
