Oh okay yeah, that explains it.

I found that entering the menu and saving (Logical thing to do after a shiny) will break your chain. I had a chain of 160, encountering a Shiny Sharpedo at 84. Afterwards checked with the fishing guy, it showed 84 as my highest streak.

Great topic TC. I finally got my shiny Skrelp within about ten min of reading this topic. I had spent day string to breed one with no success. The chain was less than 10 to get the shiny. I was fishing in the second gym town upper left corner of the water area. There is a spot blocked by three boulders on the sides.

So essentially that means if you've chained for and encountered a shiny, then KO it accidentally while trying to catch it, then the chain resets and you have to start it again?

Anyone feel game enough to test this? Or has it happened to anyone yet?

For those who caught Shiny Magikarp/Gyarados, which route/spot did you use? Thanks.

Anyone know a good spot for reeling in Magikarps? Gave it a try on Route 3 but I'm not sure where to go beyond places that are surrounded on two sides.

The best place for magikarps is route 22. There is a river and you can surround it completely.

Hi guys, just an amateur shiny fisherman here. :D I found this post and began trying it immediately, and found a few things I would like to share. 1. If you are like me, and your pokemon with the suction cups is a lower level pokemon, (my inkay was lvl 20 :3) you can make it hold a smoke ball, so an escape is guaranteed. 2. I turned around from my initial position by accident, and turned back around. Like, I didn't move, i only turned.
Idk if it broke my streak. This happened at #25, when I found my first shiny at the 46th. so if it did break my chain, I saw my shiny at 21. Anyways, Thanks for reading, and Good luck to others that are doing this. :D
