Best moveset for Pinsir/Mega Pinsir?

#1RiokenPosted 10/23/2013 11:25:04 AM
I caught this on Smogon

Mega Swords Dance
Moveset:
Swords Dance
Double-Edge/Return
Close Combat
Quick Attack / Earthquake / Stone Edge
Ability: Moxie
Item: Pinsirite
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP

Looks good too me. Personally I'd pick it like this

Swords Dance
Return
Close Combat
Quick Attack

But how do I breed Close Combat and Quick Attack on the same Pinsir? Obviously I can catch a Volbeat and breed it with a Pinsir for Quick Attack but how about Close Combat?

Or is there a better Mega Pinsir/Pinsir moveset altogether out there?

You definitely want to throw some STAB in there, but that's just my opinion. I don't know why only using normal and fighting type moves would be acceptable tbh

You can do without Quick Attack or at least Return

I'm thinking Quick Attack onto a female Pinsir. Male Heracross with Close Combat. Breed both.

Mega Pinsir gets Aerilate(sp?). It turns normal moves into flying type moves, which is what Mega Pinsir is. Don't know why TC bothered putting Moxie in for abilities.

Quick Attack and Return are STAB on Mega Pinsir.

Mega Pinsir has an ability that turns all Normal attacks into Flying attacks

So Return/Double-Edge would turn into a Flying STAB attack.

Because with Mega Pinsir's ability Aerialate all Normal-Type moves become flying and by extension he gets STAB on the moves like Quick Attack and Return (because of course Mega Pinsir is Bug/Flying)
