Honedge will be best with 0 speed IV if possible. If you are planning on going pure physical you can ignore SpAtk, or if going pure special ignore Atk.

I know this isn't a honedge thread, but I've wanted to ask...why give it 0 in spd? And how the heck does one do that?

Does this mean that Destiny knot + all 31 IV Ditto will always produce five 31 IVd offspring in X/Y?

No, because even when you use Destiny knot, the IVs still come from a random parent. Each stat (individually) has a 50% chance of being perfect unless the other partner also has a perfect IV for that stat.

My understanding is that IV's are randomly selected from both parents, and they can overlap. So it might choose Atk from the Ditto, but also Atk from the other parent

I can't get after you too much for thinking this (because I thought this was the case until a week ago), but this hasn't been true since 3rd gen. It picks the stats first, then picks a parent for them to come from. There's no overlap.

Special Attack for Azumarill. For Honedge it depends on your moveset. If you're going mixed, speed, and just hope it's low. You don't REALLY need 0, just a bad value.

Aegislash wants to attack last, because after it attacks it is vulnerable.

Good to know! So that means that if you breed two perfect parents (with destiny knot) you will always get children with 5 perfect IV's and 1 random IV?

Indeed it does. If you have two perfect parents, the chance of getting another one is a (fairly good) 1 in 32.
