Crazy ridiculous damage with Aurorus?

#1DiabeetuzPosted 10/24/2013 8:24:07 AM
Refrigerate + Life Orb + Hyper Beam = Just under 250 Base damage if I did my math right?

Why aren't people using this more??? I traded mine away before I thought about this, buuuuttt.....that seems pretty dang strong...

Because Hyper Beam is a horrible move practically no matter who uses it, and Aurorus dies if a Fighting type move so much as looks at it.

Aurous has awful typing and awful speed. No redeeming qualities at all, not even Ice Body Slam.

Now on Gardevoir or sylveon...

PM and I'll add you too. You know you want Water Absorb Maractus.

I guess because of the very poor typing it has.

I think Mega gardevoir's base sp. atk of 165 + pixilate (stab) is more.

No. Just because you lose a turn does not make Hyper Beam useless. There are many situations where sacrificing one pokemon to kill another is a perfectly acceptable trade, especially if that Pokemon has done some work already.

Heck, if you have Reflect and maybe a Fighting Reduce Berry, you might even survive the incoming fighting attack and get to Hyper Beam again.

In Double and Triple battle, it's also possible to protect your teammates in various ways.

Ok, I'll admit there are a few corner cases where wasting an entire turn to kill a Pokemon is a valid trade, but in the vast majority of cases it's either never going to find the opportunity to use Hyper Beam or you fail to predict that one of the Pokemon left can set up on Aurorus. It's not like Hyper Beam kills 100% of Pokemon 100% of the time.

It dies to Mach Punch and is weak to..

Water
Grass
Fight
Ground
Steel
Rock

Almost all Competitive sweeper sets contain one of these types and if not on the sweeper, it will probably still be SE hit by something else on the team. Plus, it's slow and has no priority or much bulk to speak of.

Refridgerate and Pixilate got poor users this time around because they all went to Special Attackers. Mega Pinsir with Aerilate on the other hand....
