Tyrantrum for Stealth Rock?

#1freeze_rayPosted 10/26/2013 5:22:41 PM
How viable is this? I'm pretty new to competitive, but I like Tyrantrum's design and I understand the value of Stealth Rock. I don't think he's that great of a lead, but would it be at all viable for me to run a Focus Sash Klefki, lay down Spikes twice, then switch in Tyrantrum after it dies (and with any luck, with some Screens up) and Stealth Rock?

If it helps at all, my team currently is a Mega Mawile, Salamence, and Protean Greninja. I really don't know where to look right now with regards to completing my team.

Not sure; I really don't know anything about Klefki. I just read somewhere that someone liked to give it Focus Sash for a guaranteed Spikes setup. What's a better alternative?

Light clay so the screens last longer

Also, would Dragon Tail be a good move to give Tyrantrum after setting up Stealth Rock? I'm wondering whether it might be useful to give it Choice Scarf. Lead with Tyrantrum, Stealth Rock, then switch out to something that can resist whatever moves were about to land on Tyrantrum (maybe even Klefki). Then spam Dragon Tail next time Tyrantrum's out with the Scarf speed for multiple SR procs.

...As I've stated, I'm pretty new to competitive, so feel free to tell me whether this is a terrible idea.

I think Tyrantrum's too slow for SR. I tried it ingame and ended up erasing it eventually, as much as it pained me, for Rock Slide.

I'm doing the same thing, but with an Aggron. I did use Tyrantrum to breed Stealth Rock onto said Aggron.

What's better/worse about Aggron? I'm hesitant to run yet ANOTHER Steel type on my team, especially as the crux of my team is my Mega Mawile and Klefki already has the exact same typing--a few Earthquakes or Flamethrowers on the enemy team can just totally crush me.

To be fair, isn't Stealth Rock a categorically terrible move in-game, since opponents never really switch? Or did you just mean literally in your game, competitively?
